The Notes iPod eBook can have at most 1000 pages, each with 3500 characters - iPod wouldn't load more notes. The filename, you choose for your notes, must be at most 32 characters long.
Note, that the iPod has enough space to extract downloaded eBook. When your eBook is created, extract your iPod Notes eBook into "Notes" directory on iPod filesystem.
